Woman robbed of UGX4 million in Kagadi District
Police are hunting for unknown gunmen who robbed 4 million Shillings from a businesswoman in Kagadi District.
The victim is Evarce Kutusa Nyabwana 41, a resident of Mabaale who operates a hardware shop in Mabaale town council.
It is alleged that the gunmen waylaid their victim on Thursday night at around 8 p.m. as she was returning home from her shop. They reportedly grabbed her bag that contained money and fired several bullets in the air as they fled the area.
Nyabwana reportedly collapsed in the process of being robbed and was rushed to St. Ambrose Health Center III for treatment.
Speaking to Uganda Radio Network from her hospital bed, Nyabwana narrated that the two gunmen emerged from a nearby bush ordered her to surrender whatever she had, and threatened to kill her if she sounded an alarm.
Edward Irumba, the Mabaale LCIII Chairperson regretted the incident tasking the police to intensify patrols in the area.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson confirmed the incident adding that a team of flying squad operatives has already been dispatched to hunt for the suspects.
He tasked residents to remain vigilant and calm since police have taken full control of the area.
