Woman Arrested for Stealing Newborn at Pakwach Health Center
The police in Pakwach have arrested a woman for stealing a three-day-old baby from its mother. The incident occurred at Pakwach Health Center IV, Lubiri B Cell, Puvungu East Ward, on December 5, 2024.
The child belongs to Ms. Afoyorwoth Patricia, 19, and Mr. Agenonga Jonathan, 29, both residents of Aparariyo ’12’ Village, Wadelai Sub-County.
It is alleged that on December 5, Patricia delivered a baby girl via C-section at Pakwach Health Center IV, where she was admitted and remained under medical care.
According to SP Asea Collins, the PRO/RCLO West Nile Region, the suspect, identified as Teddy Gipatho, checked into the same facility under the pretext of being pregnant and stayed in a bed next to the baby’s mother.
However, at around 3:00 a.m. on December 8, 2024, the baby was discovered missing, prompting the family to report the matter to the police.
Asea said officers rushed to the hospital and began investigations, which led them to Gipatho Teddy, a resident of Pajobi North Cell, Puvungu West Ward. The baby was found alive in a garden at approximately 7:00 a.m. and was reunited with her mother after a medical check.
The suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime.
