Woman Arrested for Allegedly Killing Husband During Easter Celebration in Arua City
Police in Ayivu West division of Arua City are investigating a case of domestic violence that led to the death of an accountant, Mundua Rogers. According to the police report, the incident occurred at around 4:00 am on April 10, 2023, at the couple’s home in Ewanyapa cell.
The suspect, identified as Asianzu Mary Recho, was arrested and detained by the police for allegedly murdering her own husband following a domestic dispute. It was reported that the couple had celebrated Easter at Carnival Pub in Ediofe Trading Center, a suburb of Arua City. Upon their return, they had a misunderstanding which resulted in a physical fight.
In the process, the wife pushed her husband, causing him to fall down. She then grabbed a saucepan and hit him several times around the ribs, rendering him unconscious. He was rushed to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for treatment but unfortunately died at 4:00 am.
Josephine Angucia the PRO West Nile Region says that Police registered a case of murder and conducted a postmortem examination on the body. They also recorded statements from witnesses, including the sister of the deceased. It was revealed that the couple had been fighting frequently and had been settling their disputes with the help of their respective families.
She warned that domestic violence is a serious crime with severe consequences, including death and urged the general public to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes in their homes and avoid using violence.
The suspect, Asianzu Mary Recho, is currently detained at Ayivu West division as investigations continue. She will be arraigned in court to answer to the charges once the investigation is complete.
