Wanted Robbery Suspect Arrested in Coordinated Police Patrol
Police have arrested two suspected criminals during a foot patrol operation along Nantenza Road in Kungu. The suspects, identified as Ziwa Raymond, also known as Dodo, and Lubega Stephen, are alleged to be part of a group commonly referred to as “pavers,” which has been linked to a series of violent robberies in the area.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, one of the suspects had been on the wanted criminal list in Kungu. The arrests followed a coordinated foot patrol conducted by officers from Najjera and Buwaate.
In a separate operation, Police working jointly with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) carried out a night crackdown on 26 February 2026 between 9:00pm and 3:20am in the areas of Namuyenje, Namayiba, and Nagojje in Mukono District.
During the operation, seven suspects were rounded up from identified crime-prone spots allegedly known for harbouring individuals involved in smoking marijuana, waylaying pedestrians, assaulting victims with hammers, and committing robberies. The suspects were reportedly found in possession of hammers and other implements suspected to be used in housebreaking.
Owoyesigyire said all the suspects are currently in custody pending prosecution. He added that the Police remain committed to sustaining such operations to rid communities of criminal elements and enhance public safety.
