Wamala Security Bans Fuel Sales in Containers Ahead of 2026 Polls
Security agencies in the Wamala Region have directed all petroleum product dealers to halt the sale of petrol and other flammable substances to individuals carrying bottles, jerrycans, or other suspicious containers.
The directive comes a day ahead of the 2026 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, slated for Thursday, January 15, 2026.
According to the Wamala Region Police Public Relations Officer, SSP Lameck Kigozi, the decision followed a threat assessment meeting that identified the risks posed by flammable products during the electoral period, when political tensions among supporters of different candidates are likely to escalate.
Drivers, riders, and other petroleum users have been advised to use appropriate and safe means when fueling their vehicles and motorcycles.
“We also strongly discourage parking at fuel stations during both day and night. This measure is intended to prevent the misuse of dangerous substances by ill-intentioned individuals,” SSP Kigozi said.
