Update; Death Toll in Mityana Road Accident Rises to 14 as Identities Are Released
Three more people have succumbed to injuries in the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities in the Mityana accident to 14.
The accident occurred at Namilyango village along the Mityana-Bukuya road on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Racheal Kawala, the PRO of Wamala Region, the accident, which happened at 13:30 hrs, involved a motor vehicle Isuzu Forward Truck, Reg. No. UBA 605A, silver in color, traveling from Mityana town to Bukuya, carrying an unspecified number of market vendors.
The deceased have been identified as:

- Nakamya Justine, 34
- Mukasa Stephen, 65
- Sarah Kalonga Nakiyingi
- Nakayi (female adult)
- Kigozi Jackson, 22
- Namaweje (female), 25
- Faisi Suzan (female adult)
- Fred (male adult)
- Aisha (female adult)
- Kabanda Ronald
- Ssejansi (male adult)
- Kabyesasa William
19 others remain admitted and are getting treatment from different hospitals.
Kawala says the police continue to investigate the cause of the accident and are appealing to drivers to avoid overloading and using vehicles meant for goods to transport passengers, as it is illegal.
It is reported that the driver of the vehicle, who is yet to be identified, lost control on a slope, causing it to overturn and resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals on the spot and 3 others at the hospital.
The 19 are being treated at Mityana Hospital and Bukuya Health Centre IV.
