UNEB Cautions Senior Four Candidates Against Indiscipline and Malpractice
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has cautioned Senior Four candidates against engaging in improper behaviour and examination malpractice as the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations continue across the country.
Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Board’s Principal Public Relations Officer, noted on Tuesday that some candidates have shown signs of indiscipline during the ongoing examinations. The caution comes as candidates sit for their Biology Practical and General Science (Biology) papers.
She added that some disorderly candidates are currently writing their examinations under police observation in line with UNEB’s guidelines for handling candidates whose conduct may disrupt the smooth running of the examinations.
“Any candidate found involving himself or herself in malpractice in the examination may be refused to continue with his or her examination, disqualified, arrested and handed over to the Police. Such a candidate may also be barred from sitting any other UNEB examinations,” the statement reads in part.
UNEB reminded candidates that while some will have a break before resuming elective papers next week, they are expected to maintain discipline both within and outside the examination centres.
She stressed that any behaviour contrary to examination regulations or school rules, including making noise, disobeying supervisors or invigilators, engaging in violence, or disrupting examinations, constitutes malpractice as outlined in Section 6 of the UNEB Examination Timetable caution.
Other prohibited acts include destruction of property such as desks and windows, tearing books or papers, fighting, alcohol and drug abuse, as well as insulting fellow students, teachers, or invigilators.
UNEB urged candidates to uphold integrity and discipline throughout the examination period to ensure a fair and credible assessment process.
The Uganda Certificate of Education examinations are scheduled to continue through the coming weeks with elective and theory papers.
