Unknown vandals damage NFA Boundary Pillars in Agogo District

Uganda Police Force in collaboration with the National Forestry Authority (NFA) are searching for unknown persons who destroyed forest boundary marking pillars that were stored at Lira Kato sub county office in Agago District for safe custody.

According to NFA, the pillars were brought to the sub county in preparation of the boundary opening and marking exercise of Napono Central Forest Reserve (CFR) upon the finalization of the stakeholders’/community sensitization programs that were underway.

However, today, Monday 20th November 2023, a group of unknown people damaged the stored pillars at the Sub county office and a case of malicious damage: (SD/REF/26/20/11/23), has been reported to Patongo Police Station and investigations are ongoing.

“NFA appeals to the communities neighboring the forest reserve to cooperate and participate in this exercise aimed at protecting the forest reserve from land grabbers,” reads a statement from NFA.
