Two Suspects on the Run After Defrauding 43 Ugandans in Israel Job Scam
Authorities from Immigration are hunting for two individuals, identified as Andrew Ssekimuli and Jacqueline Mbulaiteye, who are on the run after fleecing 43 Ugandans of UGX 22 million each, amounting to about one billion Uganda Shillings.
According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, the PRO for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the duo operated a company near Rubaga Cathedral called Akia Quest Tours Limited, with Jacqueline serving as the managing director and Andrew as the tour agent.
The victims reported the case to the police at the Rwaga post. It is alleged that the suspects advertised lucrative job opportunities in Israel, promising monthly earnings of about UGX 20 million. They enticed Ugandans wishing to work abroad with these offers.
The suspects are believed to have collected nearly UGX 943 million from their victims and still hold their passports. Mundeyi stated, “We received reports from the victims who came forward to complain. Despite efforts, we have been unable to locate the company near Rubaga Cathedral.”
Mundeyi urged Ugandans affected by similar incidents to report to the relevant authorities to ensure appropriate legal action is taken against the offenders.
