Two Dead Following Gas Cylinder Explosion in Rubaga Division

Two people have died following a gas cylinder explosion that occurred at 9:50 a.m. today, Thursday, October 17th, 2024, in Sembule A, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

The victims have been identified as Andrajt Baraya, an Indian national, and Amos, a Ugandan national. Both were working at an oxygen plant during their day shift when the gas cylinder exploded, killing them instantly.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, stated that the police, along with experts, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion to determine its cause.

“We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the facts surrounding this tragic incident,” said Owoyesigyire.
