Two Dead, Eight Injured in Lubaga Road Crash Involving Speeding Vehicle
Two people died, and eight others were injured in a road crash that occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, 17th October 2024, on Lubaga Road, opposite Luqman Petrol Station.
According to SP Kananura Michael of the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, the crash happened when a speeding vehicle, No. UAU 194T Toyota Hiace, traveling from Sanyu Babies Home on Butikiro Road, failed to brake while descending a slope.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a building along Lubaga Road, opposite Luqman Petrol Station, instantly killing two people, including the driver, and injuring eight others, all of whom were in the vehicle.
The injured were rushed to Mengo and Mulago Referral Hospitals for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
The vehicle has been towed to Old Kampala Police Station for inspection as investigations begin.
“We urge all motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits, especially in urban areas, and to ensure their vehicles are well-maintained to prevent such tragedies,” said Kananura.
