Two children perish in Kajjansi fire

The police in Kajjansi are investigating circumstances under which two children perished in the house fire outbreak.

The incident happened at Lweza zone B, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

The deceased have been identified as; Kakooza Rahim a 2 months old son of Kisakye Everlyn and Nakitende Sarah a 5 year old daughter of bonny Semogerere, a resident of Kajjansi KKB zone, Kajjansi Town council, Wakiso District.                                                                                                                                                   

According to SSP Patrick Onyango PRO KMP, it is alleged that on 02/02/2023 at 1700 hours, Kisakye Everlyn, 23 years, a resident of the above location was in the courtyard of the main house with friends conversing, when they saw the house engulfed in fire.

“They ran to the house to rescue the children, but the fire was tense and had spread all over the house. They made alarm which attracted the neighbors who responded, but also couldn’t control the situation,” says Onyango.

He adds that Kajjansi police was notified of the incident and fire brigade was dispatched to the scene. A team of Police officers recorded statements from witnesses.

However, the cause of fire has not been established but investigations are ongoing, Onyango adds.
