Tragic Accident Claims 10 Lives on Kyalulangira-Isingiro Road

10 people died in an accident that occurred on 26-03-2024 at approximately 1:30 pm. The fatal incident involved motor vehicle UAP 559X Canter Lorry at Kiganda along the Kyalulangira-Isingiro Road.

According to SP Kananura Michael, the PRO Traffic, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver of the motor vehicle was carrying 35 people who were traveling to Isingiro. He lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn, resulting in the immediate death of 10 individuals and injuries to 25 others.

The traffic police promptly responded to the scene, and the bodies were transported to Kyalulangira H/C III for post-mortem examinations. The victims received initial aid at the same health center and were subsequently transferred to Rakia Hospital for further treatment.

The driver fled the scene, and efforts are underway to locate him. Kananura mentioned that investigations into the cause of the crash have commenced.
