Tororo police probe suspected murder of Boda rider, as village drunkard dies mysteriously
The Tororo police are investigating a suspected murder case involving an unidentified man believed to be a Boda boda rider. The lifeless body was discovered in Amagoro “A” Cell, Eastern Division, Tororo Municipality, Tororo District, on 05/02/2024, around 0743/C.
According to IP Mugwe Johnson Moses, the Acting Public Relations Officer for Bukedi South Region, the incident occurred at an unknown time during the night of 05/02/2024. A resident living near the crime scene discovered the body along with a pair of open shoes. The resident reported the matter to the Chairman LC 1, who then informed the DPC Tororo.
The DPC, accompanied by the DCID and their team of investigators, including homicide and Soco, visited the crime scene and documented it. The body was subsequently taken to Tororo General Hospital for postmortem and potential identification.
Mugwe stated that investigations are ongoing, and updates on the progress will be provided.
In a separate incident, the police are investigating the sudden death of Francis Ojiambo, a 42-year-old resident of Budalangi division, Bunyala East sub-county, Bunyala District, Kenya.
Reportedly, on 01/02/2024, around 0900/C in Sofia B village, Busia District, Ojiambo went to Nayema Joshua’s shop to pay for drinks he consumed the previous day. He requested the shop owner to hold onto his national ID card, mentioning that he would retrieve it in the evening.
However, Mugwe revealed that Ojiambo went on a drinking spree at various joints and forgot to reclaim his national ID. On 05/02/2024, around 0730/C, he was discovered dead on the verandah of an incomplete building in Sofia B village, owned by Magumba Abdul. Abdul informed the area councillor, Awori Judith, who then alerted the local police.
The body, found with no injuries, was taken to Busia Health Center IV mortuary pending postmortem.
