Thugs Wreak Havoc in Tororo: Victims Lose Millions in Cash and Property
The Tororo District in Uganda is currently reeling from a series of aggravated robberies that took place on the night of 30th April 2023, resulting in significant loss of property and cash.
The Malaba Police Station has reported that its territorial police force is investigating the cases, which all took place at around midnight.
According to reports from the Malaba Police Station, the first case involved a group of three unidentified male thugs who were dressed in civilian attire and armed with pangas and an axe.
The victim, Lukonge Elisha, was attacked in his home and robbed of 40 million Ugandan shillings, 2,700 US dollars, and three mobile phones.
The second case involved four unidentified male thugs who also dressed in civilian attire and were armed with pangas. They attacked the victim, Madigagwa Khamis, at his home and robbed him of 20,000 Ugandan shillings and a mobile phone.
The third case involved three unidentified male thugs dressed in civilian attire and armed with pangas. They attacked the victim, Husna Ogola, at her home and robbed her of 3,000 Ugandan shillings and a mobile phone.
The fourth case involved four unidentified thugs dressed in civilian attire and armed with pangas and an axe. They attacked the victim, Odong David, at his home and robbed him of 20 million Ugandan shillings.
The fifth and final case involved a group of about five unidentified thugs dressed in civilian attire and armed with pangas and an axe. They attacked the victim, Sande David, at his home and robbed him of 3 million Ugandan shillings, two mobile phones, and a bag.
IP Mugwe Johnson Moses, the Ag. PRO of Bukedi South Region says that the police have visited the scenes of the crimes and recorded statements from relevant witnesses. However, no arrests or recoveries have been made yet. The attacks appear to be organized, and investigations are currently ongoing.
Mugwe urged the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
