Three Men Lynched, Vehicle Torched in Koboko

The Police in Koboko have launched investigations into a gruesome incident of mob action that left three men dead and a motor vehicle burnt in Diobi Village, Metino Parish, Abuku Sub-county, Koboko District.

According to police, the attack is believed to have occurred during the night of 21st November 2025 and was reported at around 3:00 am. Upon receiving the information, officers opened a case file of murder by mob and arson under Koboko CRB 482/2025.

The West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, SSP Josephine Angucia, says that one of the deceased was identified as 43-year-old Habibu Suleiman, based on a National ID recovered from his pocket. The other two male adults remain unidentified. The victims were reportedly travelling in a motor vehicle, registration number UA 186BP (drone type), army-green in colour, which was later set ablaze by the mob.

Police officers who visited the scene documented and examined the area, recorded statements from witnesses, and transported the bodies to Koboko General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Officers found the victims with their hands tied behind their backs and multiple head injuries, indicating severe assault.

Three cows believed to have been in the possession of the deceased were recovered and driven to Koboko CPS. A National ID bearing the name Habibu Suleiman of Maracha Village, Yapi Parish, Dadamu Sub-county in Arua City was retrieved as part of the exhibits. The burnt motor vehicle and the cattle were also secured as evidence at the police station.

No arrests have been made so far, but inquiries are ongoing.

Preliminary accounts from residents suggest the victims may have been targeted on suspicion of cattle theft, following a series of livestock raids reported in the area in recent months, a situation that has intensified with the approach of the festive season.
