Teacher Arrested in Iganga Over Alleged PLE Examination Malpractice
Police in Iganga District have arrested a 28-year-old teacher for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice during the ongoing Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
The suspect has been identified as Mudooko Abdul, a teacher at Ibun Baz Primary School and a resident of Bugabwe Village, Bulubandi Parish, Nakigo Sub-County in Iganga District.
According to by ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson, they received intelligence information on Monday, November 3, 2025, at around 10:45 a.m., indicating that PLE papers for Mathematics and Social Studies (SST), which candidates sat for on Monday, had allegedly leaked.
The leaked papers were reportedly being circulated through various Telegram and WhatsApp groups, and to individuals using contacts traced to the suspect.
Following the intelligence tip-off, a team of officers from Iganga Police Station was dispatched to track down and apprehend the suspect. During a subsequent search, the suspect was found in possession of a mobile phone containing soft copies of suspicious examination papers.
Mudooko has since been handed over to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) security team for further investigations.
Kasadha urged all stakeholders involved in the national examinations to uphold integrity, transparency, and strict compliance with UNEB guidelines throughout the examination period.
