Six Dead, Five Injured in Fatal Collision on Kampala-Gulu Highway

Officers at Luwero police station and Bombo are investigating the cause of a fatal accident that occurred today, Wednesday, 16th October 2024, at 1600 hours at Sinalya, Bombo Town Council in Luwero District along the Kampala-Gulu Highwaykilling 6 people.

The incident involved a motor vehicle, registration number UBL 502Z, a white Toyota Hiace, and a second vehicle, registration number UBN 052L, a white Fuso Fighter. Six people were killed and injured five others.

The deceased as Mfitumukiza Rogers, Opirisa Charles, Ebong Joshua, Mugerwa Ephraim, Kato, and an unidentified woman.

It is alleged that the driver of the Fuso Fighter, registration number UBN 052L, was driving carelessly while overtaking vehicles from the Kampala side and collided with the Hiace, registration number UBL 502Z, which was coming from the Gulu side.

ASP Twiineamazima Sam, the PRO of the Savannah Region, said the police were immediately informed and responded promptly. SOCO visited and documented the scene, recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and rushed the victims to Bombo General Military Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Luwero Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and both vehicles were towed to Bombo Police Station, pending IOV inspection.
