SFC Soldier Among Six Arrested Over Murder of Security Guard in Bugiri

Detectives at Bugiri Police Station have arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old security guard.

The deceased has been identified as Lomer Emmanuel, who was employed by SAN Security Group Ltd and deployed at Harmony Resources Gold Crush Mines, located in Budde, Nabwara Cell, Budde Ward, Bugiri District.

The suspects in custody are: Sgt. Oundo Robert (attached to the Special Forces Command – SFC), Mwanja Wilson, Omen Joel, Onyanga Brian, Wejuli Arod, and Owade Robert Oundo.

According to SP Kafayo Michael, the PRO for the Busoga East Region, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at approximately 1:08 a.m. While on duty, Lomer, armed with an AK-47 rifle, registration number UG PSO 56_4211471_5268, and loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, was attacked and stabbed multiple times on the forehead with a sharp object.

His body was later discovered inside his sentry shelter, his legs tied with ropes.

SP Kafayo further revealed that Lomer was deployed alongside a colleague, Emokori Solomon, who was unarmed and absent from the sentry post at the time of the attack.

The attackers reportedly removed the magazine from the rifle and abandoned it about 800 meters from the crime scene.

A case of murder by stabbing has been registered at Bukhooli Police Station in Mayuge District. Statements have been recorded from relevant witnesses.

The body of the deceased was taken to Bugiri Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the six suspects remain in custody at Bugiri Police Station as investigations continue.
