President Museveni Pays Tribute to Late Hon Sarah Mateke

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday 12th November, 2024 visited the family of the late Hon. Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke in Kisoro District to pay his respects and lay a wreath in her honour.

Hon. Mateke, who passed away on September 7, 2024, at the age of 50, was the Minister of State for Defence and the Woman Member of Parliament for Kisoro District.

The family, led by Dr. Philemon Mateke, who is the Kisoro District NRM chairperson and father of the late minister, received President Museveni at their home.

In a heartfelt message, the President expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

“I have come to stand with you in this time of grief. Mateke was my daughter who had a good soul. She made a significant impact and left a legacy,” President Museveni said.

President Museveni’s visit underscored the strong bond he shared with Hon. Mateke and his commitment to supporting her family during this difficult time.

After conveying his condolences, the President laid a wreath in memory of the late minister, symbolising respect and remembrance.

Dr. Mateke expressed his gratitude for the President’s visit, acknowledging the deep respect shown to his daughter.

“We are grateful for your presence here and for honouring Sarah’s memory. It means a lot to our family,” he said.

Sarah K. Biryomumaisho is a seasoned multimedia Award Winning journalist with 13 years of experience in broadcast and writing. She is recognized for her expertise in the field and holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Makerere Business Institute, which has equipped her with a strong foundation in business principles. Throughout her career, Sarah has contributed her talent to various media houses, including six radio stations, where she has showcased her versatility and adaptability. Her most recent engagements include Galaxy FM 100.2 and Radio 4. Additionally, she has served as a writer for Andariya Magazine, further demonstrating her ability to excel in different mediums. Sarah's expertise extends beyond journalism. She has worked as a Digital Communications consultant for the revitalized Uganda Airlines, leveraging her skills to effectively communicate the airline's message in the digital sphere. Her passion for digital media and technology makes her a valuable asset in the evolving landscape of communication. In her entrepreneurial pursuits, Sarah is the proud owner of TheUgPost, a renowned media organization with a strong presence in Uganda and a global reach. Through this platform, she continues to make a significant impact by providing reliable and engaging content to a wide audience.
