Police Urge Vigilance and Cooperation to Ensure Festive Season Safety
The Uganda Police Force has called on all citizens to exercise caution during the festive season, particularly by avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, which could lead to criminal incidents.
This advice was given by ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the PRO of the Uganda Police Force, during the weekly press conference held at their headquarters in Naguru.
“We face threats of various incidents during this period. Typically, we see spikes in offences such as assaults, battery, domestic violence, and break-ins or burglaries, often because homes are left unattended,” said Kituuma.
He emphasized the unpredictable nature of criminal attacks, urging the public to adopt the Neighbourhood Watch initiative to enhance community security. “This initiative is based on vigilance, connectedness, and information sharing,” he noted.
ACP Kituuma also encouraged citizens to maintain close cooperation with the police. “In such circumstances, we rely heavily on the connectivity between the police and you, the community. Rest assured, we have implemented all necessary measures to ensure safety throughout the festive season,” he stated.
