Police recover 5-month-old baby stolen in December 2022
The police have recovered a 5-month-old Chebet Najia who was stolen on 27th December 2022, in Bweyogerere, Kira Division.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP says that the child was recovered alive from Lutuntu village, Butanda parish, Ihunga sub-county, Ntungamo District.
The police also arrested the suspect identified as Namara Elizabeth, a 20-year-old peasant and resident of the same address, along with her accomplice Begumanya Ambrose.
He noted that their investigations revealed that Namara took the child from her mother, Chekwemoi Kuluthum, and deceived her man-friend that she had given birth.
The suspect had been feeding the child porridge, milk, water, and local food. Namara and her accomplice were tracked down through phone tracking and are currently in custody awaiting trial.
“We commend the efforts of our security agencies in apprehending the suspects and reuniting the victim with her parents. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities,” says Owoyesigyire.
