Police Probe Missing Child Case and Unidentified Body Found in Swamp
The Police in Kampala Metropolitan East and North have commenced investigations into two separate incidents involving a missing juvenile and the recovery of an unidentified body.
The first case, registered at Wandegeya Police Station on 6th November 2025, involves the disappearance of a juvenile, Aneza Merisa. Her mother, Kamuganga Sarah, reported that the child went missing under unclear circumstances, prompting an immediate search.
In a separate incident, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan area, officers at Nagalama Police Station are investigating the discovery of a decomposing body retrieved from Musaale Swamp in Namulaba Village, Kyampisi Subcounty, on 10th November 2025.
The body was found dressed in a navy-blue student skirt labelled “Nanyonga VII,” suggesting the victim could be a learner. However, the specific school is yet to be identified. Police have since engaged nearby educational institutions to confirm whether any students have been reported missing.
However, due to the advanced stage of decomposition, mortuary staff in Kayunga proceeded to bury the body in a local cemetery. When the parents of the missing juvenile learned about the body recovered in Nagalama, they speculated that it might be their daughter, although this remains unverified, as they have not physically viewed the remains.
As investigations progress, Owoyesigyire says the police have sought a court order to facilitate the exhumation of the buried body. Upon approval, forensic experts will extract samples for DNA analysis to establish whether the remains belong to Aneza Merisa.
Police have urged the public to remain calm, noting that no connection has yet been established between the missing child and the unidentified body.
The spokesperson promised to provide more updates to the media about both cases as and when they come in.
