Police Probe Death of 12-Year-Old in Arua After Suspected Poisoning

Police in Arua City are investigating the sudden death of a 12-year-old boy, Praise Titus, who died on September 16, 2025, at Arua Regional Referral Hospital under circumstances suspected to involve poisoning.

According to SP Anguyo Jimmy Bayiga, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident dates back to September 13, 2025, when a man identified as Osubua Francis allegedly served the deceased and his friend, Osuta Morgan, a soda.

Shortly after consuming the drink, Praise developed severe stomach complications and was rushed to Asumta Health Centre III. His condition worsened, leading to his referral to Arua Regional Referral Hospital, where he died three days later at around 9:00 a.m.

A postmortem examination was conducted, and samples were taken for toxicological analysis to establish the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Praise’s friend, Osuta Morgan, also developed stomach problems on September 16 and is currently battling for his life at Asumta Health Centre III.

Residents arrested Osubua in connection with the incident and handed him over to the police in Arua Central Business Division, where he remains in custody. Police commended the community for refraining from mob justice and instead cooperating with law enforcement.

SP Bayiga assured the public that investigations are ongoing.
