The Kampala Metropolitan Police have conducted a series of disruptive operations aimed at combating criminal networks involved in drug abuse, robbery, theft, and other unlawful activities.
According to SP Racheal Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson, a joint operation was carried out on 1st February 2026 at about 11:00 p.m. in Kigombya, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District.
During the operation, 11 suspects were arrested from a mapped-out black spot known for harbouring criminals engaged in smoking marijuana, waylaying, and robbing members of the public. The suspects are currently in police custody pending prosecution.
In a related operation, on 30th January 2026 at about 6:00 p.m., officers from Kampala Central Police Station (CPS), working in conjunction with local leaders, conducted a disruptive operation codenamed “Fukuza Mafisadi.” The operation covered several areas, including Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, behind Church House, Railway Grounds, Punjani, the Electoral Commission area, and Mukwano.
SP Kawala said the operation targeted youths who loiter at identified black spots and later engage in criminal activities such as snatching mobile phones and handbags, as well as stealing vehicle parts from motorists and passengers stuck in traffic jams.
A total of 100 suspects were arrested during the operation and are expected to appear in court today, 2nd February 2026.
