Police Launch Manhunt for Assailants in Rape and Murder of Woman in Rubirizi District

The police in Rubirizi district have launched a manhunt for assailants who raped and killed a woman. the deceased is Kyensi Sylvia, a resident of Busonga village, Nyakasozi parish, Kicwamba sub/county in the Rubirizi District.
According to Martial Tumusiime the PRO Greater Bushenyi, Kyensi is believed to have been killed on the night of 2nd April 2023 and her body was discovered at around 10:30 am the next morning.
It is alleged that the deceased left her home on the evening of April 2, 2023, to Busonga-Rwita trading center to purchase ground nuts for cooking.
She gave the ground nuts to a young girl only identified as Christine to take home while she remained at the trading center.
However, she did not return home that evening and was found dead along the roadside the next morning.
According to police reports, Kyensi’s body had signs of rape. A team of detectives and scene of crime officers visited the area, and statements were recorded. No exhibits were recovered.
The body was conveyed to Rugazi Health Center IV for postmortem while police inquiries are ongoing. The police urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
