Police Investigate Suspected Murder in Rukiga District

Police in Rukiga District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 42-year-old man whose body was discovered along the Nyakarambi–Nyakagyera road on Wednesday morning.

ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, identified the deceased as Tamukunzi Gerivazio, a resident of Nyakagyera Cell, Kafunjo Parish, in Kashambya Sub-county, Rukiga District.

Preliminary reports indicate that Tamukunzi was last seen at a local bar on the night of October 14, 2025, before his body was found the next morning lying by the roadside under unclear circumstances.

Police were notified by Denis Muyambi, the area chairperson, who reported the incident after discovering the body. A team of detectives visited and processed the scene before conveying the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

“The scene was visited, processed, and documented. The body was taken for a postmortem to ascertain the likely cause of death. Inquiries are underway,” ASP Maate stated.

The police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any information that could assist in uncovering the events leading to the victim’s death.
