Police Investigate Suspected Drowning in Kabale

The Territorial Police in Kabale District are investigating the circumstances under which an unidentified man is suspected to have drowned after his body was discovered floating in River Rwabahazi.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m., in Rugyendera Cell, Rushaki Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.

According to police, passersby spotted the body and immediately alerted Kabale Central Police Station. Officers responded to the scene, examined and documented it before retrieving the body. It was later taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem to establish the exact cause of death.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident, noting that the deceased remains unidentified. He appealed to members of the public with missing relatives to visit the hospital mortuary for identification so the body can be claimed for a decent burial.

Police investigations into the suspected drowning are ongoing.
