Police Investigate Death of Former Moroto MP Simon Aleker
The police are investigating the cause of an accident that claimed the life of Aleper Simon Peter, the former Member of Parliament for Moroto and a member of the NRM Central Executive Committee (Vice Chairman Karamoja Region).
Michael Kasadha, the Police Spokesperson for Busoga East, says the accident occurred at about 1:00 am on Tuesday morning at Bukoona along the Iganga-Tirinyi highway. It involved a white Toyota V8 with the registration number UAP 787Q and an unknown vehicle. The driver of the Toyota V8, identified as Aleper, died on the spot.
It is reported that the former MP’s vehicle was traveling from the Mbale side when it collided with an unknown vehicle coming from the Iganga direction, causing Aleper to lose control and veer off the road. The scene was visited by AIP Magoola and the traffic team.
Kasadha says the body was being transported to Mulago City mortuary by press time, while the wreckage was towed and parked at Iganga police yard pending inspection. Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General, condoled with Aleper’s family and the people of Karamoja at large for the loss of their son.
