Police investigate death of 22 year old man in Kanungu

The police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 22yrs old Turyatunga Hakim a resident of Mukayaga Ndeeba cell, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihiihi town council in Kanungu district.

According to Maate Elly the PRO Kigezi Region, it is alleged that on the 17/2/2025 at around midnight, the deceased left Kihiihi town going home with Byamukama Shaban.

The duo passed by at Mukayaga trading centre where they found a man only identified as Nicholas with the owner of the bar.

Shaban Byamukama claims he left the deceased in the bar and went home.

Unfortunately, in the morning of 18/02/2024, Turyatunga was found lying by the road side along the way to his home by his brother Mubarak who took him to Kigezi community medical centre in critical condition where he died on 19/02/2024 at around 08:00 hours. 

Police was informed, visited and documented the scene. They also recorded statements from witnesses to assist in investigation and postmortem was accordingly done.

Maate says the deceased was found with an injury on the head and efforts are underway to arrest those involved.
