Police Hunt Suspect Over Defilement and Murder of Four-Year-Old in Kiboga

Police in Kiboga District are searching for a man only identified as John, who is suspected of defiling and murdering a four-year-old child.

The incident occurred on 25 December 2025 at Kindeke Village, Kayera Sub-county, Kiboga District, at around 3:30 p.m.

According to the Wamala Region Police Public Relations Officer, SSP Lameck Kigozi, the incident began when casual labourers living in makeshift houses on a farm were thrown into panic after one of their colleagues allegedly went on a violent rampage.

The suspect reportedly armed himself with a panga and attacked a fellow worker identified as Nsubuga John, destroying his makeshift house in the process. Nsubuga, who was resting at the time, managed to escape after raising his arm to shield himself, sustaining a deep cut wound before fleeing the scene.

The suspect then allegedly turned his aggression on Nakanjako Ruth, who also fled her makeshift house in fear, leaving behind her four-year-old daughter. The suspect is said to have dragged the child into a nearby maize plantation, where he allegedly defiled her before strangling her to death.

The child’s body was recovered on 28 December 2025 and was taken to Kiboga Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Preliminary police findings indicate that the suspect may have been under the influence of marijuana at the time of the attack. Police further revealed that the suspect had previously attempted to pursue a relationship with the child’s mother, which she rejected in favour of Nsubuga John. Investigations suggest that this rejection may have motivated the attack.

Kigozi noted that when both intended targets fled, the suspect allegedly redirected his violence towards the child who had been left behind.

The suspect remains at large and is considered dangerous. Police have appealed to members of the public to report any information that could lead to his arrest.
