Police Hunt for Assailant in Murder of Security Guard in Kaliro

Police in Kaliro are searching for an unidentified assailant who murdered a 23-year-old private security guard.

ASP Kasadha Micheal, the Busoga North Regional Police spokesperson, identified the deceased as Musaba David, a security guard employed by K. Night Security LTD and a resident of the Industrial Area, Kaliro Town Council.

The incident occurred at Stabex Fuel Station in Industrial Area C Zone.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on February 23, 2025, Musaba reported for night shift duty at Stabex Fuel Station alongside his co-worker, Ojara Daniel. However, he disappeared during the shift and was last seen by Ojara at approximately 2:00 AM. His body was later discovered in a pool of blood at around 4:00 AM in the service bay, with his rifle placed on his body.

Upon receiving the report, police officers, led by the DPC, visited the scene and recovered the rifle—an SMG with three rounds of ammunition. The body of the deceased was transported to Bumanya HC IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.

A review of CCTV footage revealed an unidentified assailant, wearing a distinctive red cap and armed with a hoe, attacking the deceased at 3:36 AM. The footage showed the assailant ambushing Musaba, striking him on the head three times while he was asleep in the service bay, resulting in fatal injuries.

The crime was committed undetected, and the attacker fled the scene on a stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UGG 805V, which was taken from the service bay.

ASP Kasadha stated that investigations are ongoing to determine whether negligence played a role, particularly regarding the second security guard, who took two hours to realize his colleague had been killed.
