Police Gun Down Suspected Robber in Kiwatule

Police in Kiwatule have shot and killed a suspected robber who allegedly attempted to attack a resident in the early hours of Friday, August 22, 2025.

The resident, identified only as Davis, reported being attacked by two men armed with pangas near Ecomart Supermarket in Kiwatule.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, officers from Kiwatule Police Station swiftly responded to the distress call. During the operation, one of the suspects allegedly attempted to attack officers with a panga and was fatally shot, while his accomplice escaped.

The deceased, who was wearing a hood, a blue jacket, and a black mask, was identified by residents as a notorious robber believed to be behind several robberies in Kiwatule and Kigowa.

His body has been taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination, while investigations continue to track down his accomplice.

“We commend the officers from Kiwatule Police Station and Kira Road Division for their swift and professional response that averted further harm to the community,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
