Police Arrest Two Suspects in JBK Plaza Robbery
Police in Kampala Metropolitan area have arrested two men in connection with a daring robbery at JBK Plaza, where 16 shops were broken into, resulting in the theft of approximately UGX 33.2 million and 26,600 USD.
The incident occurred on October 20, 2025, at around 7:30 a.m., targeting shops dealing in various merchandise, mobile money, and foreign exchange services. Police immediately responded to the scene and launched investigations.
Review of CCTV footage from shop G-12 enabled the shop owner to identify one of the suspects as Gahungu Bosco, an askari (security guard) of the building, along with other unidentified male accomplices.
SSP Patrick Onyango, PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, following leads from the footage, police tracked down and arrested Bani Joseph, alias Young, and Bhosa Samuel, alias Sam. The suspects are currently detained at Central Police Station, Kampala, facing charges of shop breaking and theft.
According to Onyango, both suspects have confessed to the crime and admitted to participating in the robbery. On November 3, 2025, they were taken back to JBK Plaza for a reconstruction of the crime scene, where they demonstrated how they planned and executed the robbery.
Police continue to search for Gahungu Bosco and five other suspects who remain at large, and they are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.
