Police Arrest Over 100 Suspects in Kampala Metropolitan Crackdown

The Police in Kampala Metropolitan South and Kampala Metropolitan East have carried out a series of intelligence-led operations targeting criminal elements and high-risk areas notorious for drug abuse, robbery, and theft. The operations were conducted between October 28 and 29, 2025.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the coordinated raids led to the arrest of more than 100 suspects across various divisions within the metropolitan area.

In Kampala Central Division, 40 suspects were rounded up from known black spots linked to the theft of motor vehicle parts and other street crimes.

In Kira Municipality, which covers areas such as Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kungu, Buwate, and Najjera, seven suspects were apprehended with suspected narcotics and a toy gun believed to have been used in robberies.

Meanwhile, in Kajjansi Division, 45 suspects were arrested from Ngobe, Sseguku, and Kajjansi over alleged involvement in early-morning robberies.

A joint operation in Mukono District, specifically in Kyugu and Kisenyi–Degeya, led to the arrest of nine suspects who were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances.

Police confirmed that all the suspects are currently detained at their respective stations pending screening and prosecution.
