Police Arrest Eight in UGX 242 million Aggravated Robbery Case
The Territorial Police in Old Kampala Division have announced major progress in investigating an aggravated robbery that took place on August 22, 2025, in Kakeka Zone, Rubaga Division.
On the day of the attack, a gang of thugs armed with pangas and riding on five motorcycles ambushed Mr. Kisitu Ausi, an accountant with Give and Take Hardware. The suspects robbed him of UGX 242 million, which he was transporting to the bank. Fortunately, both Mr. Kisitu and his motorcycle rider escaped without injuries.
According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, swift intelligence-led operations followed, with detectives analyzing CCTV footage and other leads. This resulted in the arrest of several suspects, who have since been charged. They include:
- Bakunda Steven alias Kevin
- Atwine Robert Kiiza alias Mzee Lubuto
- Andebuni Brian alias Junior Black
- Musuza Raymond alias Caesar
- Ssali Andrew alias Ande Swag
- Kanyerezi Stanley
- Nsubuga Andrew
- Aboth Shivan Alecho (charged as an accessory after the fact)
Police also recovered UGX 105 million, a motorcycle believed to have been bought using proceeds of the robbery, and a black laptop bag containing vouchers and receipts from Give and Take Hardware. The complainant positively identified the exhibits.
The suspects face charges of aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and being accessories after the fact to a felony. Investigations are ongoing to track down other accomplices still on the run.
ASP Owoyesigyire assured the public that such violent crimes will be fully pursued and commended the officers for their dedicated work, which has already produced significant results.
The suspects are expected to appear before Mwanga II Chief Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, September 11, 2025. The police have invited media houses to cover the proceedings.
