Police Arrest 38 Suspects in Operations Across Kampala and Mukono
The Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested 38 suspects in coordinated operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities in known black spots across Kampala and Mukono districts.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the operations were carried out in Goma Division (Mukono District) and Kampala Central Division as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
In Goma Division, Mukono District, the police targeted areas of Bajjo and Seeta, leading to the arrest of 21 suspects found in hideouts believed to harbour criminals involved in smoking opium and robbing unsuspecting members of the public. The suspects are currently detained at Mukono Police Station pending prosecution.
A similar operation in Kampala Central focused on areas of William Street, Kinamwandu Corridor, Nakasero, and Old Park. Seventeen suspects were arrested for allegedly preying on passengers and traders within these hotspots. They are being held at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala as investigations continue.
Owoyesigyire said the police will continue to conduct such proactive and intelligence-led operations to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of residents within the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
