Police Arrest 29 in Nansana Anti-Crime Operation
The Uganda Police Force has arrested 29 suspects in an intelligence-led operation conducted on the night of September 9, 2025, in the Nansana policing area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, the operation targeted known and unknown individuals involved in criminal activities that have been terrorizing the community.
The suspects, currently detained at Lubigi Police Station, face charges related to possession of narcotic drugs, particularly opium. Exhibits recovered during the operation include opium and mairungi, which have been submitted as evidence.
“The suspects will undergo joint screening to identify repeat offenders and ensure that appropriate charges are filed. Thorough investigations will also be carried out to facilitate prosecution,” Onyango said.
Police have identified the suspects as Ssegawa Jonathon, Owino Julius, Karungi Joseph, Mwesigye Godwin, Sserunjoji Carlos, Kabuye Jackson, Wasswa Rogers, Ojambo Benard, Mawanda Dona, Lumu Peter, Yiga Isma, Kasumba Meddy, Besigwa Joseph, Bossa Ibra, Ndugwa Gonzaga, Ssenkayo Abdul, Ntege Charles, Mukisa Simon, Mwesigye Ashiraf, Muzo Vincent, Kanene Samuel, Niyomungiri Patrick, Karoli Stephen, Ishimwe Omar, Musama Deo, Byamukama Milton, Ssebutimbe Paul, Semakula Stephen, and Asindue William.
Onyango noted that the operation is part of a broader crackdown on criminal hotspots in Nansana, with similar operations planned in the coming days.
