Pastor Bugingo Body Guard Killed As Gunmen Spray Bullets On City Pastor Car

The leader of House of Prayer Ministries, Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, was taken to Mulago Hospital’s intensive care unit on Tuesday. He was shot while going home, according to Anderson Burora, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Rubaga.

Gunmen targeted Pastor Bugingo’s car after Nansana, but their attempt to end his life failed. Reliable sources say he is now safe. There are unconfirmed reports that his driver, known as Richard, did not survive the gunshot wounds.

Pastor Bugingo is a well-known and controversial pastor who openly dislikes the opposition and supports the government, especially Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions.

In 2023, Uganda experienced a rise in gun violence cases, and it seems that 2024 has continued in the same troubling trend.

According to the police, the team introduced K9 units to the scene, although their efforts were hindered by heavy rain downpours. Despite the challenging weather conditions, one suspect attempting to flee the scene in a Datsun pick-up with registration number UAK 182A was apprehended. The suspect is currently in custody, aiding ongoing police investigations.

Contrary to misleading social media posts, no shooting occurred at Hon Munyagwa’s residence. The assailants were armed only with sharp objects. We commend Hon Mubarak Munyagwa for promptly reporting the incident, enabling the police to respond effectively and prevent further harm.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
