One Suspect Killed as Police Foil Robbery in Ndejje

Police officers from Katwe Division have foiled a robbery attempt in Mirimo Zone, Ndejje Division, Wakiso District, leaving one suspect dead and another under arrest.

The incident occurred in the early hours of August 1, 2025, at around 2:20 a.m.

According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, officers received a distress call reporting a group of about 10 men armed with pangas attempting to rob a bar in Bongole Village, Ndejje Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality.

Officers from Ndejje Police Station swiftly responded to the scene and intercepted the suspects. One suspect, identified as Mpiima Muhamed, was arrested. Another suspect, only identified as Gravity, was shot and killed after he allegedly attempted to attack a police officer. His body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police also recovered a panga from the scene, which has been secured as evidence.

SSP Onyango noted that investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery.

“This incident highlights the importance of community policing and public vigilance in preventing crime. The swift response by police, supported by concerned residents, likely averted a more serious situation,” he said.
