One Killed, Three Critically Injured in Kabale Road Crash
One person has died while three others are fighting for their lives following a road traffic accident that occurred on 27 December 2025 at about 12:00 hours in Kabale Town along the Kabale–Mbarara Road, within Kabale Municipality.
According to the Kigezi Region Police Public Relations Officer, Elly Maate, the accident involved a white Mercedes Benz trailer, registration number CN 454H/ZF5373, driven by Mulinge Kisinga, a 42-year-old Kenyan national from Kituyi District, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UER 007X, ridden by a man only identified as Alex, a resident of Mukaziniro, who died at the scene.
Maate said the motorcycle was carrying three children—two girls and one boy—whose identities have not yet been established. The children sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
It is alleged that the trailer was traveling from Kisoro towards Mbarara, while the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction from Mbarara towards Kisoro. Upon reaching Kabale Town near Total Petrol Station, the motorcycle rider attempted to overtake another vehicle, lost control in the process, and collided with the oncoming trailer. The impact killed the rider instantly and left the passengers critically injured.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the primary cause of the accident was reckless riding, as the deceased allegedly overtook without due care and consideration for other road users.
The scene was visited and documented by ASP Aloket Elizabeth, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Kabale, together with her team. The deceased’s body was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, while both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle were towed to Kabale Police Yard pending inspection by the Investigating Officer of Vehicles (IOV).
