One arrested following murder of UPDF officer, Security Guard in Najjanankumbi
The Police at Katwe have detained one person following the murders of Mubangizi Moses 36, a UPDF officer attached to Military Police Makindye and Otim Huron 30, a security guard with Dynamic Security Limited.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP says that the incident happened on 4th February 2023 at around 2300 hours at Kizito block zone, Najjanakumbi Rubaga Division in Kampala District.
It is alleged that Otim Huron went into a bar smoking and he picked up a quarrel with UPDF officers who were drinking.
After the exchange, Otim angrily went back to the beat where he was guarding and came back with the gun. However, Mubangizi Moses one of the officers at the bar managed to disarm him before handing over the gun to another security guard identified as Wana Simon also attached to Dynamic security company limited.
A furious Otim then attacked Wana demanding the gun claiming it was him that signed for it at office.
He managed to take the gun back from Wana and immediately returned to the bar when he shot Mubangizi killing him instantly.
This prompted an angry mob to also gang up against Otim beating him to death.
Owoyesigyire says that a team of police officers from Katwe responded to the scene and managed to recover one gun Riffle No UG PSO 565411398 and one bullet but the magazine has not yet been recovered.
The bodies were taken to KCCA city mortuary Mulago for postmortem. Police also arrested Wana Simon and detained him at Katwe police division to help with further investigations.
