NUP Lawyer Wameli dies in US
The opposition National Unity Platform, NUP Party members are mourning the loss of their supporter and lawyer Anthony Wameli who has died in the US.
Wameli who has also been the head of the legal department, for NUP died in the US where he has been receiving treatment.
He flew to the US in June last year and was admitted to Boston Medical Center in Boston, USA. In 2021, Wameli was diagnosed with stage four cancer by the doctors at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts in the United States of America.
His passing was announced this afternoon by Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, the NUP part president.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Wameli, who was a Pastor at Ebenezer Christian Fellowship in Kanyanya rose to the limelight in 2017 when he represented the suspects accused of murdering former Police Spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and driver, Godfrey Mambewa.
He was also the legal representative of Jamilu Mukulu, the alleged head of the rebel Allied Democratic Forces-ADF and former presidential candidates retired Lt. General Henry Tumukunde and Kyagulanyi.
