NRM MPs To Vet 13 Parliamentary Committee Chairs

The Government Chief Whip in Parliament, Hamson Obua, says that due diligence has been concluded for all NRM MPs who expressed interest in chairing 13 Parliamentary Sectoral Committees.

The leadership positions of the committees fell vacant after the expiry of the terms of the previous office bearers.

Over 100 MPs who subscribe to the ruling NRM Party have expressed their willingness to chair the committees, according to Hamson Obua.

The Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement Party has the mandate to approve suitable candidates.

Three weeks back, Hamson Obua the government chief whip said they were receiving applications from National Resistance Movement MPs who are interested in the 13 available vacancies for both chairpersons and deputies of the different house sectoral committees.

He also explained that the applicants have up to two weeks to show interest in the positions. He adds that they are looking for regional balance, professionalism, result-oriented individuals, as well as integrity.
