NEMA Showcases Environmental Mandate at Judiciary National Court Open Day

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) today showcased its environmental mandate and activities at the Judiciary National Court Open Day held at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala. Deputy Chief Justice Flavian Zeija graced the occasion.

The public engagement, organised by the Judiciary, brought together various government agencies and members of the public to promote awareness on justice delivery and institutional mandates. NEMA used the platform to exhibit its work in environmental regulation, compliance monitoring, environmental education, and natural resource protection.

Throughout the day, NEMA officials interfaced with members of the public, responding to questions and providing information on environmental laws, regulations, and citizens’ roles in safeguarding the environment. Members of the public also sought clarification on issues related to environmental compliance, project approvals, and enforcement processes.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, William Lubuulwa, the Senior Public Relations Officer at NEMA noted that the Open Day provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen public understanding of environmental governance and the link between environmental protection and justice.

The Judiciary National Court Open Day attracted a wide cross-section of participants, including judicial officers, representatives of government agencies, civil society organisations, and the general public.

NEMA’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to public engagement, transparency, and collaboration with the Judiciary and other stakeholders in promoting environmental protection and sustainable development in Uganda.
