Nadunget OC shot by suspected Karimojong warrior

Police in Moroto District are investigating circumstances under which Sergeant Ariong Moses, the OC Nadunget Police Station was shot and injured by an armed criminal suspected to be a Karimojong warrior.

The incident happened on 20/3/2023 at around 17:17 hours.

According to AIP Longole Mike the AG. PRO Mt Moroto, the shooting occurred in Lokilala cell, Nakamistae ward, Nadunget Town council, Moroto District when four Police Officers attached to Nadunget Police Station were responding to an alarm from a Boda Boda rider who was attacked by a group of hooligans.

“As the four officers were withdrawing back to the station, an armed person emerged from one of the nearby huts and started shooting randomly at them injuring the OC on the thigh and later fleeing away,” Longole says.

Longole says that the joint security forces responded to the shooting and evacuated the injured Police officer to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital and he is out of danger. Scene has been secured for further examination.

“We condemn this act of criminality and attack of security personnel while on duty.”
