Mother Allegedly Stabs Three-Year-Old Daughter to Death, Attempts Suicide

Police in Nateete are holding a 24-year-old mother accused of killing her three-year-old daughter in Lusaze Zone, Rubaga Division, Kampala.

The incident occurred on 24th February 2026 at around 5:00am.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the deceased has been identified as Ayongeirwe Neila.

Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect, identified as Aine Shivan, allegedly stabbed her biological daughter to death while her husband, Bakwatanisa Dickson, was away from home.

Police further state that after the incident, the suspect allegedly attempted to take her own life by cutting herself on the neck.

SP Kawala said investigations suggest the couple had unresolved domestic disputes prior to the incident.

The suspect has since been arrested and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital under police guard.

“We strongly condemn such acts of violence within domestic settings. Members of the public, especially victims of domestic violence, are urged to seek assistance from the police Child and Family Protection Unit for support and protection,” said Kawala.
