Migeera accident claims 5 lives, injures 24 others
A tragic accident has claimed five lives and left 24 individuals injured.
The accident occurred today at Migeera along the Kampala-Gulu highway, at 0430 hours.
The accident involved several vehicles, including a Scania bus belonging to Califonia Bus Company registration number UBB 538K. The other vehicles involved were an Isuzu D-Max registration number UBK 688C and a fuso box body registration number UBC 209A.
According to ASP Twineamaziima Sam, the Acting PRO of the Savannah Region, preliminary investigations indicate that the accident unfolded when the bus which was travelling from the Gulu direction towards Kampala collided with the broken-down fuso, which was also facing the Kampala direction.
The bus also hit the Isuzu D-Max, resulting in the deaths of four passengers on the bus and injuring 24 others. The other victim has been identified as Muwanga Alex, a mechanic who was working on the broken-down fuso at the time of the collision.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Nakasongola Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examinations.
