Mbale Popular Music MC Killed in Domestic Dispute, Suspect Arrested

Police in Mbale City are investigating the murder of Wanambwa Jonathan, a popular music MC at Oak Bar and resident of Muyembe, Maluku Ward, Industrial Division, who was fatally stabbed on the night of 9th August 2025.

According to Elgon Region Police spokesperson, Rogers Taitika, the incident occurred at around 9:20 pm at the deceased’s rented home. Taitika said the deceased had invited a woman, identified as Hellya Sonia, to his residence. Upon her arrival, Sonia reportedly found another woman, later identified as Namono Geraldine, seated on the deceased’s bed.

“When Namono saw Sonia, she started quarrelling with the deceased. This prompted the deceased to instruct Namono to leave the house. In that struggle, Sonia allegedly saw Namono pull out a sharp object and stab the deceased in the back,” Taitika explained.

The deceased raised an alarm, attracting neighbours who found him lying in a pool of blood outside his house. They rushed him to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The neighbours also apprehended Namono and handed her over to the police.

Namono is currently detained at Mbale City Central Police Station under reference number CRB 178/2025. Taitika confirmed that police have recorded statements from eyewitnesses, preserved the crime scene for documentation, and transferred the body to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
