Mbale Man Arrested for Brutal Stabbing of Estranged Wife

Police in Mbale Northern City Division have arrested a man suspected of murdering his wife in a violent stabbing incident that occurred on November 28, 2025.

The suspect, Kaziba Mustafa, also known as Tata Musilim or Mudogo, is alleged to have connived with unidentified accomplices to waylay and fatally attack Nagudi Shamira, 19, a resident of Wagagai Cell in Nkoma Ward, Northern Division, Mbale City.

According to the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, the crime took place at around 11:30 pm in Wagagai Cell, when Mustafa ambushed the victim and stabbed her in the stomach using a knife.

Shamira was rushed to Mbale City Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Her body is currently awaiting a postmortem examination.

Investigators have also established that the couple had been separated for three months before the attack. Police say the motive behind the murder remains unclear and is the subject of ongoing inquiries.

The suspect is currently detained at Nakaloke Police Station as investigations continue.
